FOCUS Thanks Candidates in Board of Education Election

The filing deadline for candidates in the Ocean City Board of Education election in November has passed, and three candidates will be on the ballot for three seats. 

FOCUS would like to thank Jacqueline McAlister, Chris Halliday and Dr. Charles Roche for their willingness to serve in the vitally important role of school board members. Being stewards of our children’s education carries great responsibility and these volunteers receive no pay or benefits in return.

We are extremely fortunate to have three candidates who have each served with distinction on the Ocean City Board of Education in the past. With the arrival of new School District Superintendent Christian Angelillo and the return of these members, FOCUS is confident that the district will maintain its exceptional reputation and that our students will continue to excel in academics, arts and athletics.

McAlister is seeking her fifth term on the board, has worked as an educator for her entire career and has two children who have attended Ocean City schools. Halliday seeks his second term, has served as board president and vice president and has two children in Ocean City schools. Roche, a primary care doctor, also has two children in the district. He was appointed to complete an unexpired term on the board.

Though the November election will be uncontested, FOCUS can wholeheartedly endorse each of these well-qualified candidates.
