Timeline for May 14 Municipal Election in Ocean City

Ocean City will hold its biannual municipal election on May 14, 2024. City Council in Ocean City has seven elected members — four representing individual wards and three representing the city “at-large.” The election in May 2024 will decide the four ward seats and also determine who will complete the unexpired term of at-large Councilwoman Karen Bergman (whose term expires in 2026).

City Council members and the mayor serve four-year terms. Elections for mayor and the three at-large seats will be in 2026.

For the ward seats, Ocean City residents can vote only for the candidates from their home ward. All Ocean City voters can cast ballots for the at-large seat.

The Ocean City’s wards are broken down as follows:

  • First Ward: Longport Bridge to north side of Fourth Street

  • Second Ward: South side of Fourth Street to north side of 12th Street

  • Third Ward: South side of 12th Street to north side of 26th Street

  • Fourth Ward: South side of 26th Street to 59th Street (including Ocean Reef)
